One naming trap: in `ORIC.PAL-PROM-TBP24S10-1ab9b572.bin`, PAL is a
Programmable Array Logic, not the television standard.
Two traps run the other way, where a region is real but wider than it looks:
- **The detector's default branch.** Genesis Plus GX and PicoDrive set the US
region for every Mega CD disc whose security byte is neither Europe's nor
Japan's, so the US BIOS serves Latin America as well. Read where the region
value comes from, not only the switch that uses it.
- **A territory the code folds into another.** Dolphin maps NTSC-K discs to
NTSC-J (`ToGameCubeRegion`), so the Japanese IPL is also Korea's.
`python scripts/region_audit.py` then lists every `region:` that disagrees with
the regions No-Intro gives the same dump. Each disagreement is a line to read
in the source, not a correction to apply: the field records the code's
selection, and a Hong Kong PS2 is an NTSC-J console.
