A game is a .love archive or a directory holding main.lua, passed on the command line. RetroPie builds tag 11.5 (scriptmodules/ports/love.sh) and runs `love %ROM%`. RetroBat ships the 11.4 Windows build (love.7z, changes.txt and love.dll name 11.4) and runs love.exe with the game path, or the game itself when it is a fused .exe (emulatorLauncher/Generators/Love.Generator.cs). Between 11.4 and 11.5 boot.lua is unchanged and the filesystem module only gains PhysfsIo, a stream wrapper for archive I/O. boot.lua first tries the executable itself as a fused archive, then the path given on the command line (src/modules/love/boot.lua:50-94), and stops with "No code to run" when neither holds main.lua (src/modules/love/boot.lua:322-328). conf.lua and every asset come from the game. The boot, callbacks and no-game scripts are compiled in as Lua headers, and the default font is Vera.ttf compiled in (src/modules/font/Font.cpp:34-42). Nothing is read from a BIOS or system directory. The save directory is created by the engine under the user's data folder. files: []
